Hi there,

This is my first post here as I discovered webDiplomacy just today. I like this project so I want to offer my help in translating this, as English is the only localization AFAIK. I started to translate some files in locales/ but I wonder if this would be helpful at all. I found some post via search saying that the translation-system my be replaced so I don't want to do double work. By the way: I offer to translate it to German. So could someone inform me if there are already translations (probably to improve?) or if I could continue my translation to post it here when I finished.

Regards,
the-razer

Currently there is no real support for Non-English languages.
Everything is hard-coded, even if the "English"-directory suggests otherwise.
JayP did a great job with implementing a multi-language version of the code, but it never got in the main distribution and it's a pain to update the international-version with every new version.
I'd recommend to wait till there is "official" multi-language support.

I can't imagine it will make the main distribution to be honest. Adding language support will really hit server load, and people are unlikely to want a site running in more than one language, because diplomacy is a game about communication anyway. Saying that, once the software is very stable perhaps it would be worth writing language support in, but even then it would probably be worth making it such that you "compile" your code by substituting in the chosen language data.

JayP did implement a really easy way for multilanguage support.
There was just one small header-file and a little wraper-function for the text-strings.
Really low on server load and with next to none additional work required.

The thread about this is over there in the developer forums: http://forum.webdiplomacy.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=321
