I think it would be a very powerful feature to ally players to be banned
specifically from joining a game with certain players. Would be a very
useful tool against metagaming, and indeed could be used to help limit
multiaccounting

It might encourage people to create other accounts so they could ally, and might be one of those things where enforcing the rules too hard would just encourage them to be broken in a sneakier way

Well, people can be just banned straight away if that happens.

The issue with metagaming is that you have to keep on going back to check again to make sure that people aren't continuing to cheat.

Fair enough, I'll add it to the todo section

So this would be a new table with two columns, one for the user id and the other for the other player's user id. When two players are banned from playing with each other, two entries would be put in, one in each direction. When joining a game, a check would be done to see if any players already signed up for the game are in the new table for this user. If so, they are rejected from the game. The admin control panel page would need to have the section added for banning two players.

What about anonymous games? Any concern over a person finding out another player is in a anonymous game? E.g. player A and B are banned from playing games with each other, and they are pretty sure they are only banned from playing each other and not anyone else. If player A is in a game and player B tries to join it, then player B will be pretty sure that player A is in that game. But because player B can't join the game, is there any real harm? Not applying this logic to anonymous games would defeat the purpose of the logic since meta-gamers would probably be more likely to play anonymous games in any case wouldn't they?
