My intention was to keep Germany out of this variant, which is why they are not present. And although this does occur at "The Turn of the Century," I was kind of partial to the idea that it would occur early in the twentieth century, but not quite in the year 1900.

As for Morocco and South Africa, I suppose we might end up with a problem.

I will see how I can best change it, and I would like to know whether the idea for an extension into Europe would be better or worse.

Not something I intend to keep, but something that may fix some problems:

Yeah, Italy didn't get control of Libya til 1912 either. Libya was still nominally Ottoman in 1900.

Still, looks like it could be quite promising. I thought about doing a 'Rush for Africa' style variant before.

Interesting....
Perhaps I could replace Italy with Spain and then replace German territories with neutral units?

Belgium is represented as Yellow in my map. As far as I know, the Netherlands were not a strong influence at the time.

Just some more things I'm doing:

The Russo-Japanese War had only two combatants; neither could call upon their respective allies unless they fought two or more combatants (Franco-Russian Alliance) (Anglo-Japanese Alliance)
Korea was firmly under Japan's control.
Manchuria...not even a Nation-State
China didn't do anything during this war. Still recovering from having been utterly destroyed in the First Sino-Japanese War. Really it should be a two player variant.

Also Japanese Prussian trained Armies and Japanese far superior ships should have a double strength agains the pitifully equiped Armies and Navies of the Czar whose Baltic Fleet and First Pacific Squardon were lost (not really fair don't listen to the last part)

:| Yes airborne, it was only fought between Russia and Japan, but at the end of it, Korea was granted its independence. China was strong enough to intervene, even though they decided not to. Manchuria was not an independent state, more so a territory of China, but it did have its own standing armies. Because the Russo-Japanese war was fought mostly in Manchuria and Korea, I thought it wouldn't be much of a stretch to add them as powers.

I also added some Trans-Atlantic Bridges to the other one:

I'm thinking this one would be much better with Fog of War.

The Chinense had their own problems losing the first Sino-Japanense War, the disasterous the Boxer Rebellion, and massive public debt and being controlled by international powers (i.e. France and Britain). Russian had mostly control of Manchuria and had a solid base in Northeastern Manchuria. Japan again had firm control of Korea. I would find it utterly ridiculous if Japanense Korea, Russian Manchuria or China wins in this variant. Pick a different name to take those powers out.
Why does Japan not own every SC of its home island anyways?
Why doesn't Russia control Port Arthur?
