This is the Renaissance variant based on http://www.variantbank.org/results/rule ... sance2.htm

It's basically the standard map with passable Switzerland and a couple of name changes. The starting countries are different.

I'm not sure if there is an easy way to test it without installing Webdip locally. Let me know if you have any comments.

David

here's a sample pic of the powers in this variant.

IMHO it might be a good idea to redraw the ''borders'' of the
new powers.

Also it might be interesting to add standing
neutral armies to the neutral SCs, even though
the variant doesn't call for this...

Once upon a midnight dreary, many moons ago. This is a long-standing variant, and I don't know how the results ended up. But it is on both jDip and RealPolitik, so I assume it is not to terribly unbalanced.

If someone redraws them, I can put this on the lab. Doesn't look to terribly involving. I don't even think there is a rule change, is there?

Nope, the only changes are adding Switzerland, a few name changes, and the starting points of the powers. A cool analysis of the variant is here: http://www.diplom.org/Zine/S2007M/Roburn/renaissance.htm

I'll take a jab at updating the thicker borders today.
