I just remembered a common complaint on the forum regarding nopress games. When a player is banned from a nopress game, the gamemaster sends a message to global which the players cannot view and therefore cannot clear the message notification from the game and they are stuck with it until the game is over. This seems to come up on the forum a couple of times a month.
One solution, which I believe Sleepcap said he has in place is to clear that flag when going to the &viewArchive=Messages page.

I think this is a very elegant way of clearing the flag. In \board\info\messages.php
Code:
// Set the global messages as seen (usefull in Nopress games to remove the newmessage-icon after a Gamemaster post)
if( is_object($Member) )
   $Member->seen(0);

I like the idea of an open message-window for admins only. They way I send admin-messages at the moment is changing the presstype, type a message, change the presstype back. But an empty-chatbox for every player take away too much screen-space to include it just in the rare case of an admin-message.

The empty sendbox would not be there. Just the top portion of the chatbox, which when empty doesn't take up too much space. For example, the below screenshot.

If you go to the Notes tab then the sendbox shows up where you can write notes to yourself. But on the global tab, only mods would have the sendbox.

How is this for screen space?

I see now. Really nice and useful (IMHO).

While we are discussing changes to the chatbox: Waht about a pregame chat.
I've implemented this first in the WWIV-variant, but later I decided it fits better in board.php so it can be used in all games.
If you put more code in the chatbox.php it can be done much better (I can give it a try), but it works in this implementation quite well.

Here is a link to a post on the todo->map section about the Ancient Med graphical glitch. Once that is fixed then that post can be moved to completed.

The problem with pre-game chat is messages are to and from countries, and countries haven't been allocated until the game starts.

I guess you could use the Global user (as with moderator messages), prefixed with the username of the person posting

I think including those changes would be good Alderian, but since it would conflict (probably in a very minor way) with making the chatbox better for variants I think perhaps wait for the release after next to put it into a pull request

I made a git-patch-file for an easy integration of the latest AncMed version
(Need to put in in a zip, because couldn't upload the file without zipping).
